Kicking off My Inspiration with the Golden Rule

I’m kicking off my “inspirational” category today. I will try and keep up with this topic, because it means so much to me. And, I love sharing hope, inspiration, motivation, and love to everyone.

I feel the weight of people’s problems, depression, and downright tough times on my shoulders. I am sincere when I say that I feel your pain. We all deal with rough days and we all deal with them differently. I see it around me on a daily basis. I see it my own life. Life has a way of knocking you down just when you’re feeling good. Things like work, traffic, illness, death of a loved one, a mean person in a checkout line, and even friends and family can bring you down at a moment’s notice. But I like to say, do not be a victim!

When I think about that simple statement, it really rings true … Think about how often we have chosen to believe that times are tough. You heard that right – I said, “CHOSEN” – I truly believe that it is our choice to let things in life bring us down. I've got news for you, the world is not against you!

Take a moment (bear with me here) and really ponder this. If you are struggling in rush hour and someone suddenly cuts you off from a slower lane or is riding your tail like a 611 pound silverback gorilla during mating season (tailgaters are my pet peeve … I love to hate them!) You, and only you, are the one who decides to let it affect you. While it’s true that they made the first asinine move, is it not true that you can choose whether to allow that move to affect your mood or not? Of course it is. Sure we are territorial (I am) mammals, but we are also intelligent mammals and have this thing we call freewill (thank you Geddy). Freewill allows you to choose things. In this case, you can choose to growl, get your dander up, and act aggressively back at the guilty party … Or, it allows you to take the high road and assume the innocent, smile, and be friendly. Since we’re honestly assessing feelings here, which do you think would feel better?

Next time someone does something that your life-rules determine is rude or unfair, don’t be the victim … Nay, I say hold your head high, smile, nod your head gently, chuckle even … But let the offensive move pass by you without more than a fleeting thought.

Life is a flow … feel it … enjoy it … and by all means, share the good with everyone you run into.

Have a great hump day!

Love you all,
Vaughn
